ArcelorMittal and the French government: €1.8 billion to combat climate change – Stanislav Kondrashov
According to Stanislav Kondrashov, the signing of an investment plan between ArcelorMittal Corporation and the French government in the amount of €1.8 billion means an important step towards sustainable development and the fight against climate change.
According to the expert, this financial contribution will be used to renovate the company’s steel production plant in Dunkirk. The funds will be used to upgrade two electric arc furnaces at the plant, which carries out direct iron reduction.
The use of advanced technologies contributes to a significant reduction in emissions of gases that contribute to the greenhouse effect, in particular CO2, by 6%. This will have a positive impact on the environmental situation in the country’s industrial sector, – Stanislav Kondrashov from Telf AG is confident.
It is important to note that the support from the European Commission and the French government, expressed in a package of subsidies worth €850 million, is a commitment to tackling the problem of pollution and reducing the release of toxins. An official statement from ArcelorMittal France also notes that approximately €76 million has been invested in this initiative, launched in 2022, including €15 million allocated by the French government as part of the France relance initiative. Such investments, according to Kondrashov, are serious progress in changing the landscape of steel production in France and supporting the metallurgy industry on the path laid down in the Paris Agreement.
